This baby Harp Seal was photographed in February, 2012, in the Gulf of St. Lawrence near the Magdalen Islands of Canada. Access to the ice pack was achieved by helicopter flight and a landing on stable, floating ice. Each footstep had to be tested for safety to insure we would not plunge through the ice. One fellow photographer was unfortunate to have fallen through who was traveling with me.
