The Flautist with the Whooper Swans, photographed in Lake Kussharo, Hokkaido, Japan, in the winter of 2013, has received two awards this month. It was named a Finalist in the Windland Smith Rice "Natures Best Photography Awards" for 2013, "Outdoors Adventure" category, and it also was named an Official Selection by the Kontinent Awards in their "Single Image-Nature" category. Many of the finalists in the Windland Smith Rice competition will go on to be exhibited in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC in 2014.
